Tartu gets a padel centre on two floors of an 8 million euro building

The courts go on the second and third floors of the R82 business centre at Tammetoru 11/13, built by KA Varad.

A padel centre is being built in Tartu, on two floors of the R82 business centre going up at Tammetoru 11/13. The developer KA Varad is putting more than 8 million euros into the building, Ehitusuudised reported.

The building has more than 5,600 square metres of floor space over three floors. Commercial units go on the ground floor, behind a glass facade. The padel courts take the second and third floors.

The number of courts and an opening date were not given.

Stacking courts above shop units is the usual way padel reaches a city plot rather than an industrial park on the edge of town, and it is a sign of how the Estonian market is being read: Tartu already has padel, and a developer is still willing to spend eight figures on more of it.

For players in southern Estonia the practical question is indoor time in winter, when a court booking in Tartu is harder to get than a racket. Anyone in Riga or Vilnius planning a trip north has reason to watch this one too, because a venue of that size changes what a weekend tournament in Tartu can hold.
